In 2000, typhoons began receiving names contributed by places in the Asia-Pacific region. Taiwan is not on the list, for the usual political reasons. The names are used in the order given here. After all 140 have been used, the names are recycled, beginning with the top of the list. An especially destructive storm's name, however, is withdrawn, with a new name being chosen to fill the vacant spot on the list.
I've added the times that various typhoons hit Taiwan.
